This sculpture brings to life a universal childhood dream, the thrill of racing cars through the transformative medium of glass. With its vibrant sugar-candy hues and crystalline clarity, the work evokes the fantasy of a giant lollipop while capturing the speed and innovation of its historic prototype. Crafted with extreme precision, the piece celebrates both whimsy and technical mastery, standing as a testament to the artist’s ambition to create a true glass car.
The sculpture is meticulously built to the exact dimensions of the GN Jap V8 racing car, a legendary 1908 vehicle that was engineered with an airplane engine, pushing the limits of speed and design. It’s not a work “About a car”, but a car made of glass.
In contrast to large-scale glass installations with established visual languages, this sculpture stands apart. It marries nostalgia with engineering precision, whimsy with historical depth, and ambition with technical excellence, proving that even in an age of digital tools, craftsmanship and vision can still redefine what is possible in art.
The Rise of Lollipop Man: The Bike
Just wanted to share with everyone my latest work: The Rise of Lollipop Man: The Bike.
When I was a little boy, I dreamed to get a motorcycle. Not just a motorcycle, not simply beautiful, but one that comes with a status. When I grew up, I could afford to buy such a bike. But then I realized that keeping a dream is much more interesting. My new, shiny, fragile, glass bike is a dream come true that I can actually hold in my hands.
The sculpture is made of more than 100 pieces of hand blown glass. It took me about 2 years to make. I plan it to be a first work in a series “Rise of a Lollipop”
